The Process

The big question was popped, the answer was yes – now what?

There are a few things to think about – booking a venue, deciding on the guest list and sorting the catering. But before all of that comes to life, you need to get married! That’s where I step in as your celebrant. There are two different parts of planning your ceremony to consider: figuring out exactly what you want the day to look like and the legal side. Fortunately, I can help with both.

Planning Your Ceremony

You’re looking for a celebrant and you’ve come across me – fantastic!

The first thing to do is reach out. Email, call, text, whatever works best for you. While I’ve got lots of details on my website, having a bit of a chat is so much nicer.

If we chat on the phone or over email and you like the sound of me, the next step is organising a time to meet – this can be in person or virtual. It is a simple, no obligations opportunity for you to meet me and for us to get to know a little bit more about each other before we launch into the full-blown planning process.

If you like what you see and you decide that I’m your celebrant, then we can really get stuck into it. I’ll make sure we are all agreed on plans, pricing and steps moving forward in writing, so you know exactly what you are paying for and what to expect from me.

The Legal Side

You will need to apply online at Births Deaths and Marriages for a Marriage Licence; this costs $150 and is a non-refundable fee paid to the government. This Licence is only valid for 3 months, and you can get married any time within this 3-month period. If the 3-month period lapses, and you’ve had to delay your wedding for whatever reason, you will need to apply for another Licence and pay the fee again. Because of this time period, don’t worry about rushing to get your Licence in the early days.

When your application is processed and approved, you will be issued two documents that are identical – a BDM45 and BDM45a. These are called the Copy of Particulars to Marriage and must be signed on the day you get married by yourselves, your two witnesses and your celebrant. You get to keep a copy, and I will send a copy to Births Deaths and Marriages to legally register your marriage.

    • Short in length, and less than 10 minutes long,

    • Good for small groups or very intimate settings,

    • A selection of pre-prepared poems or readings from me for you to choose from, and

    • Traditional, simple vows pre-scripted and provided.

    This service starts at $350.

    • A beautiful ceremony that is entirely customised and written for just you,

    • Focuses on more detailed anecdotes of your lives together,

    • Medium in length, and generally about 10-20 minutes long,

    • Good for small to medium sized groups,

    • Customised vows, written by you and gentle guidance from me.

    This service starts at $700.

    • A truly memorable moment, with a totally personal script that weaves your love story through memories, triumphs, and showcases all of the beautiful parts of your special relationship,

    • Longer in length, and generally up to about 20-30 minutes long,

    • Perfect for groups of any size, but especially larger groups of 75+ guests, or more formal settings,

    • Total ability to customise who you want involved and how they contribute to making your day perfect,

    • Truly personal vows, with vow coaching together as a couple, or one on one.

    This service starts at $950.

  • A package for the most daring, out there and extreme celebration of love you can think of – no, seriously, the sky is literally the limit.

    If you want to get married in a plane, and then jump out – I’ll join you. Want to elope and tell no one about it – we can plan in secret. Have dreams about a specific theme – lets chat.
